ABOUT
The popular ‘24 Hours in Bristol’ photo-marathon competition, which sees 10,000 photographs taken in a single day, is back next weekend with an exciting new format – all entries must be taken on smartphones or tablets only.

The 2017 mobile phone photo competition will open up the event to people across the city without the need to own a traditional camera. Hundreds of budding snappers are expected to 'get smart' with their mobiles during the 24 hours from 1200 Saturday 30th September to 1200 Sunday 1st October 2017.

UNIQUE HOUR SLOT
Entrants must register online to compete for the £5,000 prizes.  All entrants are randomly allocated an hour of the 24 hour competition during which they must take at least one entry image, adding a fun challenge and ensures full 24 hour coverage of the city.

ENTRY FEES & NEW CATEGORIES
Entry fees will be significantly reduced for 2017 to £5, which helps fund the £5,000 prizes.  Student entry for 13-17's and university students is £3.

There are some exciting new prize categories, including 'Bristol Architecture', sponsored by Stride Treglown, 'Recycle & Reuse' sponsored by Bristol Waste Company, 'Bristol at Work' sponsored by Central Appointments; 'My Neighbourhood', sponsored by the University of the West of England; 'Bristol Property' sponsored by Andrews Property Group; 'Creative Technology' sponsored by Element78; 'Panoramic' sponsored by Fotospeed; Best U18' and 'Nature & Wildlife', judged by BBC wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
To enter the competition, everyone must register online. Entry is £5 for adults and £3 for students (13-17 and university students). On Saturday 30th September entrants photography the city over the 24 hours of the competition, then upload their best images for judging. The shortlisted entrants, sponsors and the media are invited to the Awards evening on 27th October and all competition entries will be displayed alongside the winning images at the 'One Smart Day in Bristol 2017' exhibition at the Programme Gallery from Saturday 28th October.

EXHIBITION
The exhibition will be held at the new Programme Gallery in the converted Pithay building, from Saturday 28th October - Saturday 11th November.

Prizes

There are over £5,000 of prizes on offer for the 2017 competition, including a £2,000 overall first prize - one of the world's largest prizes for a mobile phone photography competition.
