Bristol Waste Company, which makes an incredible 17 million scheduled collections every year, has sponsored a new 'Recycle & Reuse' prize category for 2017.
The company collects 140,000 tonnes of waste and recycling each year, of which nearly 40% is composted or recycled. It operates 180 vehicles, cleans 800 miles of streets and footpaths and deals with 180,000 ad hoc job requests annually.
Marketing Officer Emma Williams said: “Bristol Waste Company employs over 500 local people who are committed to keeping Bristol clean and tidy. We’re delighted to be sponsoring 24 Hours in Bristol and look forward to seeing the results that capture the diversity and imagination of our city, and the people who live and work here.”
Some fantastic photographs of Bristol Waste workers cleaning the streets of the city during the early hours were entered into the 24 Hours in Bristol competition in 2015. The hard working subjects of the photos came along to the awards evening in their eye-catching orange kit to receive prizes, along with their photographers that took them.
